Maxpedition Platty Pocket Organizer Review: Compact EDC Storage That Punches Above Its Weight
Maxpedition sent two new pocket organizers into the channel, and if you’ve been around here for a while, you already know how much I love good pocket organizers. Today we’re taking a look at the Platty series — the 4×6 and the larger 5×7 — both built for compact carry, fast access, and everyday practicality.

First Impressions
The Platty series immediately stood out because they’re built exactly the way a pocket organizer should be: durable, slim, and versatile. Both versions use quality materials and hardware, and each one is packed with pockets, loops, and smart layout options.
Let’s break them down.
Maxpedition Platty 4×6 (Wolf Gray)
The first organizer I tested is the 4×6 Platty, shown here in wolf gray. It’s also available in OD Green, Black, and Genuine Multicam for those who want a premium pattern.
Pricing:
- Wolf Gray, OD Green, Black: $18.99
- Multicam: $21.99

Or on Amazon: https://amzn.to/43LskND
Specs & Features:
- 500D nylon construction
- Duraflex hardware
- Genuine YKK zippers
- Multiple interior pockets
- Elastic loops for tools
- Large front pocket
- Rear pocket with long paracord strap for cross-body carry
One of the most unique features is the rear paracord loop, which gives you the ability to sling this cross-body… or wear it like a minimalist shoulder pouch. It adds more carry flexibility than your typical pocket-sized organizer.
The only thing I’d personally change is the zipper layout on the front pocket — I’d move it to the side to improve access — but that’s strictly preference and not a deal breaker.

Maxpedition Platty 5×7 (Multicam)
Now for the larger organizer — the 5×7 Platty, shown in Multicam. This version is only slightly bigger but opens up a lot more options for small kits. I currently have mine packed as a compact day-hike kit for unexpected delays, minor injuries, or times when I get turned around in the woods.
Pricing:
- Multicam: $22.99
- Black, OD Green, Wolf Gray: $19.99

Or on Amazon: https://amzn.to/43LskND
Specs & Features:
- Same pocket layout as the 4×6, just larger
- Reinforced 500D nylon
- YKK zippers + Duraflex hardware
- Full handle
- Long paracord strap for cross-body carry
Now let’s look at what I keep inside.
What I Carry in the 5×7 Platty
Front Pocket Loadout
- Olight Oclip — secondary light with red beacon for signaling
- Ozark Trail Multi-Force — saw, pliers, knife, scissors
- Personalized first-aid kit tailored to my needs
Rear Pocket Loadout
- Signal whistle
- Fire kit (cotton tinder, stormproof matches, waxed jute, ferro rod with neon lanyard)
- Chapstick (fire helper + general use)
- Bic lighter
Everything fits cleanly and with room to spare. The 5×7 is an ideal size for a small rescue kit, a minimalist hiking pouch, or a ready-to-go pocket survival kit.
Why the Name “Platty”?
Platty comes from the word “flat.”
These organizers are designed to disappear into:
- Cargo pants
- Cargo shorts
- Jacket pockets
- Back pockets
- Or sit flat in a backpack without bulk
I normally carry one around this size in my front pocket, and it rides comfortably all day without feeling bulky.
Final Thoughts
Huge thanks to Maxpedition for sending these out — the Platty 4×6 and 5×7 are both excellent additions to the EDC world. Tough, slim, modular, and adaptable for everything from tools to first aid to hiking essentials.
If you’re looking for compact organizers that stay flat but still carry a surprising amount of gear, the Platty series is absolutely worth a look.
And thank you for stopping in — I appreciate the support more than you know.
Hope you’re having an amazing day, and I’ll see you next time.
