KeyUnity KH01: The Phone Carry System I Didn’t Know I Needed

Have you ever had something show up and you did not realize how much you needed it until you actually got it?

That is exactly what happened with the KeyUnity KH01.

KeyUnity reached out and asked if I wanted to take a look at one of their new items. It is called the KH01, and it is a phone retention and carry system.

At the time they reached out, there was no real information online about it. At the time of filming, there still was not much information available because it had not officially gone up for sale yet.

I blindly said yes, and when it showed up, I was honestly blown away.

This is one of those simple, brilliant pieces of gear that immediately made sense once I had it in hand.

What Is the KeyUnity KH01?

The KeyUnity KH01 is a phone retention and carry system.

At its core, it is a strong magnetic attachment system with a clip. It is designed to attach to MagSafe phones or MagSafe-compatible phone cases, giving you a way to carry your phone on a backpack strap, belt, or other carry setup.

The magnet is an N54 neodymium magnet, and it feels very strong.

In the video, I used it with an Android phone in a MagSafe-compatible case, and it attached securely.

Why This Makes Sense for Hiking

For hiking and walking, this immediately solved a problem for me.

I do not always want my phone in my back pocket, especially when I am on the trail. It can feel bulky, awkward, and annoying. With the KH01, I can attach the phone to the shoulder strap of my backpack and keep it accessible without stuffing it into a pocket.

That is the part that made this product click for me.

It is simple, but it solves a real annoyance.

Backpack Strap or Belt Carry

The KH01 can be clipped onto the shoulder strap of a backpack, which is how I plan to use it most often.

You can also clip it onto a belt or another part of your carry setup.

That gives it some flexibility depending on whether you are hiking, walking, traveling, working, or just trying to keep your phone secure and easy to access.

Retention Lanyard and Safety Tether

The KH01 also includes a lanyard-style retention system.

Even though the magnet feels strong enough that I am not worried about the phone falling off under normal use, the tether adds an extra layer of security.

If the phone gets bumped off the magnet or slips out of your hand, the tether helps keep it from hitting the ground.

In the video, I described it almost like bungee jumping for your phone.

Charging-Port Anchor

KeyUnity includes a small anchor piece that slides into your phone case and works through the charging port area.

You put the anchor into the case, reinstall the phone, and the tether has a secure attachment point.

One thing I like is that it does not block the charging port. You can still plug the phone in while using the anchor.

Extra Attachment Options

The kit also includes another attachment piece.

I had not used that one yet at the time of the video, but I liked the rubber-style one shown during the setup.

There is also a small clip included. While filming B-roll, I dropped the included clip in tall grass and could not find it, so I used one I had on hand.

The included clip is smaller, and it appears to be titanium.

MagSafe Adapter Ring

KeyUnity also includes an extra MagSafe-style ring.

That means if you do not have a MagSafe phone or MagSafe-compatible case, you can add the ring to your phone or case and still use the magnetic attachment system.

That is a smart inclusion because it makes the KH01 more useful for a wider range of phones.

Simple Gear That Works

One of the reasons I like this so much is because it is not overcomplicated.

The KH01 is not trying to be a giant gadget with a dozen moving parts. It is a strong magnet, a clip, a tether, and a smart little adapter system.

That is it.

And that is why it works.

Sometimes the best gear is the stuff that solves a problem without turning itself into a puzzle box.

Availability

At the time of filming, the KeyUnity KH01 was not yet available for sale.

I do not know the final price yet, but I will add a product link as soon as one becomes available.

Final Thoughts

The KeyUnity KH01 changed the way I think about carrying my phone while hiking.

Instead of keeping a bulky phone in my back pocket, I can attach it directly to my backpack strap and keep it secure, accessible, and tethered.

That is a big win for me.

This is a brilliantly simple piece of gear, and I love it for that.

KeyUnity has a habit of turning small ideas into genuinely useful products, and the KH01 feels like another one of those items.

Thanks again to KeyUnity for sending this into the channel.

Let me know what you think. Would you use a MagSafe phone retention system like this for hiking, walking, travel, or EDC?
