Recent Gear Roundup: Knives, Tools, Gloves, Shoe Dryer, Vacuum Sealer, and More

Sometimes gear comes into the channel that does not necessarily need its own dedicated video.

That does not mean it is not worth showing.

Over the last few months, I have had a variety of items come into the channel. Some were sent in for review, some were purchased, and one was a Father’s Day gift. Instead of giving every single item a full dedicated video, I decided to put together a quick gear roundup and show everything on the table.

This roundup includes knives, tools, waterproof gloves, a shoe dryer, a mini vacuum sealer, vacuum bags, and a trench lighter.

Sothing Hot Air Shoe Dryer

The first item in the roundup is the Sothing hot air shoe dryer.

This ended up being more useful than I expected. Shortly after receiving it, I got caught in heavy rain while hiking and my hiking shoes were completely soaked. Wet shoes can get nasty fast, and this shoe dryer helped save that pair from becoming a swamp-scented tragedy.

The unit plugs in, uses drying probes that go into the shoes, and has multiple temperature settings with a digital display. In my case, the shoes were dry in about half an hour, which was very impressive.

Jack Wolf Gateway Fixedc EDC

Next up is the Jack Wolf Gateway Fixedc EDC.

This is a 2.99-inch fixed blade knife with 14C28N blade steel, an ebony wood handle, and a Kydex sheath. It is part of Jack Wolf’s Gateway series, which gives you the same level of workmanship as their more premium knives, but with more affordable materials.

The knife is absolutely gorgeous, and I have been carrying it since I picked it up.

WORKPRO Quick-Adjust 4-Inch Pliers Wrench

WORKPRO also sent in their quick-adjust 4-inch pliers wrench.

This came after I had previously looked at another compact plier option that did not really impress me. WORKPRO reached out, said they wanted to do better, and sent this tool into the channel.

This version features parallel jaws, quick adjustment, and a compact 4-inch size. I do not have a ton of time with it yet, but my first impression is much better than the previous tool.

Crosspoint Waterproof Gloves

The Crosspoint waterproof gloves were also sent into the channel.

These are warm, waterproof gloves with a three-layer waterproof and breathable construction. They also feature touchscreen fingertips, silicone grip areas on the palms and fingers, and a lightweight form-fitting design.

During colder months, gloves like this can be tricky if your hands get dry and rough, but once my hands were in better shape, these became much more comfortable to wear. They are definitely warm, and my hands started sweating while filming with them on.

Tenable Parr Fixed Blade

The Tenable Parr is another fixed blade that I picked up myself.

This outdoor fixed blade has micarta scales, 14C28N blade steel, a 3.12-inch blade, and a Kydex sheath with a belt clip. I found it for around $49.89, and for the price, it is a pretty nice mini fixed blade.

Snap-on / CRKT Legacy Folding Knife

One of the most special items in this video is the Snap-on legacy folding knife that my daughter Isabella gave me for Father’s Day.

This knife is made by CRKT and uses 12C27 blade steel. It has Snap-on branding, a flipper tab, a right-hand tip-up pocket clip, and a very nice action.

Because it was a gift from my daughter, it is now my most prized pocket knife.

The big question is whether a knife like this should be carried and used, or kept safe as a special gift. Personally, I feel like I would disappoint her if I never carried it, but I would love to hear what others think.

Jack Wolf Gateway Barlow

I also showed the Jack Wolf Gateway Barlow, another knife from the Gateway series.

This one had been shown previously, but it pairs nicely with the Gateway Fixedc as part of the Jack Wolf Gateway lineup.

Mini Vacuum Sealer

The mini vacuum sealer was a fun one.

I found this thanks to the Novel Crown YouTube channel, and it turned out to be a very handy little item. It is compact, charges by USB-C, and can either vacuum seal or simply seal bags.

In the video, I show how quickly it pulls the air out and seals the bag. The bags also have an easy-tear feature, and depending on how you cut them, you may be able to make smaller bags out of larger ones.

Trench Lighter

The final item in the roundup is a compact trench lighter.

This is a cool little lighter that came in at around $13.98 on Amazon. It has a classic compact design and is just a fun piece of pocketable fire gear.

Final Thoughts

This was not really a full EDC haul, because not everything shown here is something you would carry every day. But it is a nice mix of useful gear, interesting tools, knives, outdoor items, and practical oddballs.

The shoe dryer has already proven itself. The Jack Wolf knives are gorgeous. The WORKPRO pliers wrench looks promising. The Crosspoint gloves are warm and waterproof. The Tenable Parr is a nice compact fixed blade. The Snap-on knife is special because of who gave it to me. The mini vacuum sealer is surprisingly useful. And the trench lighter is just plain cool.
